73rd Manipur Independence Day of Manipur (Kangleipak) observed at the Head Office of United Committee Manipur (UCM) today the 14th of August 2020 remembering the historic day on which the British left the then kingdom of Manipur, marking the end of the colonial rule.

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) was established on 3rd of July 2001. It is the outcome of the unprecedented ceasefire agreement declaration between the proscribed NSCN (IM) and Government of India. After the fateful incident of the Great June Uprising on 18 June 2001 where 18 innocent lives were lost during the protest against the extension of the cease fire inside the territory of Manipur, various Civil Society Organizations (CSO) of the state joined hands to form an apex umbrella organization to defend the territorial integrity of Manipur.
